What is Foley Catheter ?
In urology , a Foley catheter is a flexible tube that a clinician passes through the urethra and into the bladder to drain urine. It is the most common type of indwelling urinary catheter. You can find from the picture below that foley catheter is a special tubing system, which can linked with the leg bag.

Structures
The product consists of catheter, tapered Connector, ball and tip. Different pattern has different structure. See specification below.
Single lumen catheter: it consists of tube, single lumen tapered connector (discharging tapered connector), sharp tip and guide wire (6FR/8Fr/10Fr) without ball.
Double lumen catheter: it consists of tube, ball, double lumen tapered connector (discharging tapered connector, bubble tapered connector), one-way valve , shade guide card set, sharp tip and guide wire (6FR/8Fr/10Fr) and ball. Triple lumen catheter: it consists of tube, ball, triple lumen tapered connector (discharging tapered connector, bubble tapered connector, douching tapered connector), one-way Valve , shade guide card set, douching connector, douching connector cap, urine catheter connecting tube, sharp tip and ball.
Cautions
1. Sterile mark refers that the catheter is sterilized by oxirane. It is valid for 2 years. Check batch No. and date on the package, if it is broken, do not use it.
2. Medical silicone oil or other non-petroleum matrix lubricant (such as liquid paraffin, but paraffin will broke ball) can be used to lubricated catheter
3. Check catheter, ball before applying in case of leakage or barrage.
4. Disposable mark refers that the catheter only can be used once, then it need to be disposed. It is forbade to be used again.
5. The injection water should not excess max volume(ml) on catheter.
6. Operator need to softly plug or pull catheter and monitor patient’s status. As for catheter kept in patient’s body, medical staff should keep it work normal to prevent it is bent or pressed. If it is necessary, bladder need to be douched everyday. Then nurse or doctor need to observe draining and fix catheter. Patient should be nursed well.
7. Before putting stainless steel wire into discharge lumen of child catheter as assistant a cannula, operator need to check wire position for preventing wire to go through bye hole that will damage patient’s urethra. After plugging cannula, the stainless steel wire should be pulled out.
8. To prevent urine discharges from douching connector, the connector need to be stuffed up(if there is). Douching connector only can be opened when douching.
9. Product need to be used with doctor or nurse guidance.
10. Product need to be stored in ventilated and dried room without corrosive objects.
